Playing along

One of my best friend's sister has started a blog called The Styling Game. Fun little fashion challenges are issued Monday through Friday- and I have decided to play along. I played yesterday, but never got the chance to take pictures. When I saw today's theme, I thought- no way will I be able to do this- but as I started thinking about it and getting ready I think I surprised myself.
Today's theme was "Pie". Well, the first thing I thought about when I thought about pie (and don't ask me why) is 50's housewife. Aprons, baking, ladylike demure. So, I set to work. I would have loved to wear a skirt, but I don't have one that would work. So white capris it was. My blue and white shirt with a lattice print is my "pie" representative. Blueberries! Yum! Going along with the 50's housewife idea I added some ladylike kitten heels and matching jewelry. I pinned my hair up (which also makes the days activities that much cooler) and stepped out of the box with some bold lipstick. (oh, and my nailpolish just so happens to be "Cherry bomb")

Shaking and Baking

I decided that part of Sadie and Connor's schooling this year would be learning their way around the kitchen. Not only is it teaching them an important life skill- it also reinforces many of the lessons they are learning in math. On Monday, they baked an especially tasty batch of brownies for a first day of school snack.
Last night, they made some blueberry muffins so they would be ready for breakfast for us today.
I must say- I have been very "hands off" just sitting at the bar and offering answers when they ask- which isn't often. They are learning to work together, follow directions, etc and the rest of us get to enjoy some very tasty treats!

School time!

I've been scarce these past few days because....School has begun! Busy days, hectic evenings. I'm sad to see the lazy days of summer pass, but its a happy time too- if only because it signals cooler weather is approaching! Here are some pics from the past few days!

The "rest" of the story

Just figured it would be best to have a separate blog to keep all the "other" stuff going on these days so that the other one can stay all about C. :-)
